School Council

School CouncilThe school council is for young people to be given the opportunity to discuss issues that relate to their school, their education and any other matters that concern them.

To be elected onto the school council the children who want to get involved are given the opportunity to write a manifesto and read it to their class. Their peers then get the chance to vote for two councillors to represent them at school council meetings in a secret ballot.

Meetings are then held the first Wednesday of every month and the children bring forward any issues or suggestions that have been discussed in a class council meeting. They prioritise issues and make informed decisions working well as a team. The council is run by the chairperson and vice-chair person and all roles are held such as secretary and treasurer.

Our School Council is made up of representatives from Key Stage 2 - click on any of the photos for a larger image, then use the next/previous buttons on the larger images to scroll through the gallery.
